Pay tribute to a legendary sportsman in his home town Lefty’s unparalleled accomplishments in opening up the sport of fly fishing and his commitment to conservation began in Frederick Maryland. To celebrate his connection to Frederick, as well as raise awareness of what Lefty stood for, the initiative also includes placing a life-sized bronze sculpture of Lefty wading and casting in Baker Park’s Culler Lake, very close to where Lefty was born. Lefty utilized this lake countless times for casting lessons and demonstrations since it was just down the street from his home in Frederick. In 1968, in cooperation with the Fontanilis Fly Fishers of New York, PVFF founded the Eastern Council of the FFF. More recently, the club was incorporated into the Mid-Atlantic Council of Fly Fishers International. In 2003, the club was incorporated as a non-profit organization. Potomac Valley Fly Fishers club (PVFF) members promote fly fishing, preservation, and wise use of our resources in Frederick County and Western Maryland. Our club provides advice and assistance on fly fishing techniques, fly tying, and fly casting. We help with stream restoration and stocking. The combination of the natural grasses, wetlands along with the skate house and fountains. The sculpture of Lefty Kreh, a celebrated conservationist, is a bridge to that harmony.
