Our club was organized in 1967 under the auspices of the National Federation of Fly Fishers (FFF), Bozeman, Montana. In 1968, in cooperation with the Fontanilis Fly Fishers of New York, PVFF founded the Eastern Council of the FFF. More recently, the club was incorporated into the Mid-Atlantic Council of Fly Fishers International. In 2003, the club was incorporated as a non-profit organization.
Potomac Valley Fly Fishers club (PVFF) members promote fly fishing, preservation, and wise use of our resources in Frederick County and Western Maryland. Our club provides advice and assistance on fly fishing techniques, fly tying, and fly casting. We help with stream restoration and stocking. We also maintain a liaison with other regional organizations of sportsmen and conservationists.
